The fast food giant you drive past everyday, Mcdonalds, has recently filed a lawsuit against a group of pork producers. Mcdonald's is claiming a group of these pork producers, have been conspiring to knowingly inflate prices.
Not only that, they are saying this is nothing new. Apparently this has been going on since 2009.
Some of the defendants include names like; Tyson Foods, JBS, Hormel, and a few more.
Mcdonald's is claiming they came together, pool their data and limited production to create less supply and more demand. Now if you remember anything from math class, that means the prices go way up.
Now all that being said, is anyone here really surprised? I mean if you know anything about the meat industry, the few giant companies not only control the price out the door but also control the prices of what comes in the door.
Im not saying I feel bad for Mcdonalds. But this once again brings the larger issue to the surface. That issue being the entire food industry is controlled by a few dominating monopolies.
