Last week was an eventful one for the TSA agents at Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport after a man from South Africa attempted to get through security with over 80 lbs of meat stuffed into three suitcases.
The man was reportedly traveling from South Africa, where he was bringing biltong beef with him—a dried, curried meat.
The passenger was promptly stopped, and the meat had to be discarded. The man claimed it was worth over $2,000, which he was carrying with him.
Due to regulations concerning the transfer of diseases from other countries, such as foot and mouth, the man was informed that he could not legally bring it into the US.
Although no charges were filed, there is a lesson to be learned. Why go through the hassle of lugging around 80 lbs of meat when you can have it shipped to your door from Dude Food? It will arrive quicker, be safe to eat, and won't get you in trouble!
