You may have heard about the new craze about "cultured meat" (it shouldn't even legally be able to be called meat). This is different from plant-based "meat" (again, shouldn't even be able to be called meat).
There is a company in North Carolina called "Beliver Meats." They are currently building the world's largest cultured production plant just outside Raleigh.
This cultured-based chemically-created thing they are making, apparently uses cells from a real animal. These cells are then mixed with "nutrients, oxygen, and moisture" to create the end product.
Although this has not been legally approved by the FDA, many companies are jumping on this trend, trying to capture what they think will be the future of meat.
The founder claims that with the future need for growing meat, the current market won't be able to handle the demand. That seems interesting, considering that thousands of farmers go out of business every year because they can't sustain their operations.
I'm sure this company has a caring heart and truly wants to help people. I mean, there is no way they are getting into this industry for the benefits of pushing their own agenda and controlling what goes into your mouth (yes, that was sarcastic).
Between people eating bugs, algae, and now chemically-produced food, it's more important than ever to eat REAL American meat grown by real American farmers.
