Homemade Sloppy Joes

Homemade Sloppy Joes

The Classic Sloppy Joe. It doesn't get enough credit for how great of a meal it actually is. Putting ground beef on a bun doesn't exactly sound to amazing but toss in a few ingredients and you'll have yourself a great meal!

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Hamburger buns, for serving

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned.
  2. Add the diced onion and green pepper to the skillet and cook until softened.
  3. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
  4. Add the tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the mixture for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.
  6. Serve the Sloppy Joe mixture on hamburger buns.

While these might be in every movie as the poster child for bad food, sloppy joes are extremely underrated. These also can be made by just mixing the ground beef together with a premade can of sloppy joe mix. But if you want them homemade, this is still a very quick and easy way to do so!
