The Perfect NY Strip Steak

You go to dudefoods.co and get your self a nice New York strip steak, right? You think, "ill just throw it on the grill and it will be good to go". Well, not exactly. If you want that perfect, juicy flavor, it will take a little more effort than that. 

All that being said, its still very easy to do so don't be intimidated. With the right steak, 3 ingredients and 10 minutes, you can have yourself a world class steak at home!  

Ingredients:

  • 1 NY strip steak 
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Take the NY strip steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before grilling.
  2. Preheat your grill to high heat.
  3. Rub the steak with olive oil and sprinkle the salt and pepper on both sides of the steak.
  4. Place the steak on the hot grill and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare doneness. Adjust the time depending on how you prefer your steak cooked.
  5. Use tongs to flip the steak over and avoid using a fork as it can puncture the meat and cause juices to escape.
  6. Once the steak is done, remove it from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before cutting into it. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat and prevents it from becoming dry.
  7. Slice the steak against the grain and serve immediately.

Its really that simple. The biggest thing to be aware of, is not to overcook it. Steak cooks really quickly so don't be afraid if you think it hasn't been on the grill long enough. Its best to use a thermometer to double check.
