How much do cows sleep? The average cow will sleep between 10-14 hours a day (must be nice, right?)
How much do cows eat and drink everyday? When full grown, beef cattle can consume anywhere from 30-50lbs of feed per day (mostly grass & hay)! As for drinking, they can easily consume upward of 12 gallons of water!
How much does the typical cow weigh? At birth, it can range from 50-100lbs. When a steer is full grown, they are typically around 1500lbs.
What do animals do all day? Honestly, not much. Drink, eat, sleep.
Why do cows have horns? All cattle are born with horns (male and female)! Some bigger than others. Farmers typically remove them (no, it does not hurt the animal) to prevent any accidents. Since cattle do not need them for protection, they don't have much use!
How much do cattle graze per day? Cattle can spend anywhere from 5-12 hours happily roaming in the pasture. During this time, they can walk upwards of 3 miles!
What is the difference between a milking cow and beef cow? Exactly what is sounds like! Dairy cow breeds, such a Holstein, are bred to produce milk. Beef cattle on the other hand, such as Angus, have the DNA that makes for a high quality piece of meat!
